Texas couple Kazi and Shane Pruitt are Baptists, and they believe a family should be big and diverse. In addition to their two biological daughters, they already have two adopted babies, but when the Pruits decided to take their fifth child out of the orphanage, everything spun so quickly that it came as a surprise to the other children. Their unspeakable reaction to having a tiny sister in the house became a viral video on the Internet.
The Pruitts had long intended to have a fifth child and certainly wanted to do so in the tradition of their religious teachings by making an orphan from an orphanage happy. They had left applications and waited for the call, but they didn’t tell the children anything – it could be months before they got a positive answer, so why bother the young souls for nothing? And then one morning the phone rang, and everything began to whirl and whirl – a conversation with a lawyer in the morning, a hurried signing of documents, other worries. Mom and Dad simply left the house in the morning without telling the kids, and came back with an unusual package in their hands.
“Are you kidding me, are you kidding me?!!!” exclaimed 6-year-old Harper. And 11-year-old Reagan cried when she realized who her mother was holding. The children knew nothing about having a sister, but they welcomed her into the family right away. The video touched many hearts and convinced the Pruitts that they were doing the right thing. They feel blessed to be the parents of a large, loving family.
