A family in San Diego dealt with the disappearance of their beloved dog, Mishka, for over seven months.

Their heartache turned into a miraculous joy when Mishka was found 2,000 miles away in Michigan.

This story isn’t just about a lost dog – it’s also about the bonds that tie us to our pets and the unexpected journeys that bring them home.

Mishka’s adventure started when she was seen darting through a Detroit suburb, far from the sunny skies of California.

Local police found her and placed her in a shelter, unaware of her origins.
The mystery of how she ended up so far from home lingered, with the only clue being her presence in a completely different state.

The following morning, shelter workers scanning Mishka discovered a microchip that would prove crucial in solving the mystery of her long journey.

This tiny device provided the first link back to her worried family in San Diego.

Upon contacting the microchip company, Mishka’s registration details emerged, confirming her identity and her family’s contact information.

The shelter’s swift actions initiated an emotional phone call.

The call revealing Mishka’s safety sparked an overwhelming wave of relief and happiness in her family.

The moment they heard she was in Michigan, plans were immediately set in motion to reunite.

Mishka’s story had turned from despair to a joyful preparation for her return.

Coincidentally, the family had plans to visit Minneapolis for Easter, which serendipitously aligned with their need to travel to Michigan.

Mishka’s father took a detour, embarking on a 10-hour drive to the shelter.
