Vladislav Tyukin has been crowned the champion of The Voice Kids Russia, but his rise to stardom was as unexpected as they come. He was nearly sent home on the very first night.

Performing in front of the judges during his blind audition, Tyukin sang ‘Feelings,’ a song by Morris Albert. The judges initially were not impressed by the young singer, and nobody turned around.

When it seemed that all hope was gone for Tyukin, one of the judges finally turned her chair around. This was all he needed to gain confidence on both that night and the rest of the competition.

He later performed ‘Feelings’ again during a sing-off competition that saw him again narrowly escape elimination. However, his star continued to grow with each week until the night of the finals.

It was there that he performed an incredible rendition of ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ by Queen. Backed by a choir and using all the charm and charisma that endeared him to his audience, he stole the show.

It was the performance of a lifetime for Vladislav Tyukin, who improved week after week and continued to defy the odds to become a champion. And it all began on that fateful first night.

Had that one judge not turned her chair around, Tyukin would have been sent home immediately, robbing him of his chance to perform – and robbing us of the opportunity to hear his considerable talents.
