Do you ever watch certain performances and just know that the person is destined for great things? When you see five-year-old Katarina DelCamp skate on ice – that might be the thought running through your head.

The video below was captured at the Houston Galleria Christmas Show. It didn’t take long before Katarina had everyone’s eyes lighting-up with amazement over her talent.

If you believe ice skating is magical, just wait until you see it combined with elements of the holiday season.
When Katarina enters the rink she’s wearing a fun interpretation of a Santa suit, complete with a hat and “boots.” She begins her routine in a pose and waits for the song to begin.

The moment twinkling sounds fill the room it becomes apparent what tune would be accompanying her performance. It was Mariah Carey’s, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” another reason the crowd was in for a treat!

Katarina may have been just peanut-sized, but as it turns out – she was an incredible figure skater.
In the video, the crowd cheers as she spins multiple times on the ice, before gliding off and balancing on one leg. Her routine then morphs into a mix of dance and skating techniques that work together beautifully.

To add to the festive nature, there’s a large glittery Christmas tree in the center of the rink.
At one point, Katarina leaves the open area and skates around the tree. Yet, according to a comment made from the skater’s YouTube channel – that wasn’t supposed to happen.

“The Christmas Tree placement at the Galleria has always been on that portion of the rink. Katarina was supposed to perform her entire routine on the open end of the rink even though she had begged to circle the tree in practice. Well, when it was Show Time, little Miss Independent took it upon herself to improv a bit and circled the tree. LOL!!! That flair for the dramatic is signature Katarina:-)”

For those of us who aren’t trained in the sport of ice skating, it’s almost unfathomable what Katarina could do at such a young age.
According to lifelong skater and professional coach, Karen De Vito, kids can be ready to start learning to ice skate between three and five. However, there’s a lot of patience involved too.
