Who Said Grocery Shopping Isn’t Fun? Not This Tiny Cashier!

Mason is a self-proclaimed “Super Dad” who seems to spend his entire life in a play grocery store. Of course, after meeting the employees at his local market, no one could blame him. The young cashier is incredibly endearing, but the manager is all business. The two younglings manage a booming corner store with a lot of repeat business.

The young boy stands ready for each customer, wearing an apron and presenting professionally. He dutifully rings up each item for his customer and then (not so) carefully places the item in a bag. Engaging in small talk and making suggestive sales are part of the overall charm. However, when an expired coupon is presented, all bets are off.

Not willing to accept that he had a bad coupon, Mason demanded to speak with the manager. That was a wrong choice in this play grocery store. The young cashier summoned the manager using the public address system. She was in no mood to tangle as she came around the corner from her office. Don’t let that adorable smile fool you!

She might have been wearing her customer service smile, but the video cut out after she arrived. We’re not picturing a happy ending for that play grocery store customer. All kidding aside, these kids and their father are having a blast with this play grocery store. They have various items on the shelves and even ran a hotdog special! While the kids just think they’re having fun, Dad is actually helping them grow and learn.

There are five main benefits to a play grocery store or other role-playing games for children. The activity helps them to develop communication skills and build vocabulary. Interactions improve social and emotional development. Using play money helps children learn the concept of money. They improve physical development by coordinating hand and eye control to grasp and scan objects. Lastly, activities like this help with cognitive development.

Parents like Mason are winning! When is the last time you had a tea party with your toddler? Consider role-playing activities to enrich your children’s development. As Mason shows us, parents can have a lot of fun, too! Let yourself be a kid again.
